Robert Parker 90 Points A strong effort for Talbot, the 2005 is more showy and forward than most wines of this vintage. While there is plenty of tannin, it is sweet and well-concealed behind an intriguing bouquet of sweet herbs, licorice, smoked game, black currants, and cherries. This fleshy, medium to full-bodied St.-Julien exhibits a silky sweetness to its texture and tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020+. Wine Spectator 91 Points This displays blackberry, sweet tobacco and green coffee aromas. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a caressing texture. This has a really lovely mouthfeel for the vintage. Best after 2014. 35,750 cases made.–JS

Sweet tobacco, berry and currant aromas follow through to a full body, with soft, silky tannins and a fresh, racy aftertaste of currant and mineral. The texture of the tannins is very beautiful. Best after 2016. –JS

Tasted single blind at Southwold. One of the best Chandacirc;teau Talbot in recent years with a striking nose of Doris plum and damson, smoke developing with aeration and then ripe blueberry scents. Perhaps it is a bit heavy handed with the oak. The palate has good extraction, sappy black fruit, nice acidity with touches of iodine. It is surprisingly lush and expressive on the finish. This is a Talbot that should motor along nicely for two decades, maybe more. Drink 2011andndash;2030.

Full medium ruby. Very primary nose of cassis, licorice, earth and leather, complicated by an almost exotic note of chocolate. Then suave, broad and dry, with a fine-grained texture and very good palate coverage. Doesnandrsquo;t currently show the lift or intensity of the best Medoc wines of the vintage, but offers a fleshy, solid impression and finishes with fairly sweet tannins for this property.

Very dark with a tiny violet rim. Incredibly thick in the glass. Brown sugar toast over cinnamon on the nose, finishing with a lingering yeasty aroma. Fresh strawberry notes on the palate over hints of fresh green herbs. Nice tannic bite. Fairly well... Mike Supple. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Talbot 1500ml

The 1986 is quite simply the finest Talbot I have tasted (perhaps the 1945 Magnum I once drank was as good). Deeper than the 1982, more classically structured with the depth and length of a great wine from a great year, the 1986 Talbot is indeed superior. Anticipated Maturity: 1995-2015.

Has big, rich, muscular style with St.-Julien grace, with powerful spice, oak and red currant flavors flanked by firm tannins that will require cellaring until 1994.
