Chateau Suduiraut Premier Cru 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Intense and luscious with ripe notes of orange peel and pineapple, the 2009
Suduiraut is our favourite Sauternes of the vintage. The palate has a wonderful
depth of rich citrus and passionfruit flavours whilst a vanilla cream note adds
to the broad, lush, honeyed mouthfeel. Crisp acidity adds freshness, making
this an absolutely delicious Sauternes.

Château Suduiraut:
The terroir of Sauternes covering 2,200 hectares, lies forty kilometres from Bordeaux between the left bank of the Garonne and the forests of the Landes. The appellation Sauternes covers the communes of Sauternes, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac and Barsac.

Château Suduiraut is a perfect example of 18th century architecture: noble, stately, and full of light. The château is surrounded by magnificent gardens designed by Le Nôtre, which make the estate even more attractive. The soil is composed of sandy-clay and gravel. Suduiraut is located in the commune of Preignac in the heart of the Ciron valley. The Château's privileged position fosters, from the month of September onwards, the growth of botrytis cinerea (the famous ônoble rotö) on the grapes. These are picked one by one in several waves. After the grapes have been pressed, the must is fermented in oak barrels for 18 to 24 months before bottling

Pale gold colour. The Suduiraut 2009 has a delectable bouquet with wonderful delineation with scents of pineapple almond paste lemon curd and Kaffir lime the new oak still prominent and demanding time to subsume. The palate has a slightly viscous entry with clear honey nutmeg mandarin that leads to a thrilling almost spicy finish. Great length with a rounded patisserie finish. There is a lot packed into the Suduiraut that is unruly at the moment but is sure to evolve beautifully in bottle. This is simply a sensational Suduiraut.
