Editorial Reviews for Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot Columbia Valley
This offers impressive aromatic depth with a very complex array of aromas ranging from plum to blueberry, oak spice to herbal with vanilla and cinnamon/burnt sugar top notes. Lovely up front with an edge of wood sweetness and spice that surround fresh plum, mocha, and black raspberry fruit. The black raspberry/ black currant fruit becomes more pronounced on the mid-palate with some soft tannins creeping in and gentle earthiness that fills out the palate. The finish is very fresh and clean with a nice interplay between flavors that increasingly lean toward black currant and gently toasty wood spice. The finale shows an herbal flash before leaving with a pop of black currant. Lovely balance to this wine and it might very well improve with a year or two in bottle. 91pts

Fruit forward. Mouth filling. Intensely ripe and boldly flavored. Velvety texture and deep red color. Lovely.
This is a good wine for the price.
Coffee aromas and some of the syrah comes through on the nose, leading to a thick, viscous mouthfeel. Deep plummy fruits, this is a highly fruit forward wine. The finish is of cola, cocoa and cedar, with a lingering taste of chocolate.
Very powerful and thick feel. A little earthy/dry taste, which I felt held it back a bit. However, the strong and complex finish saves it.

Smooth and amiable, with a cooked edge to the sassafras-accented cherry flavors, hinting at chocolate as the finish lingers. Drink now through 2015. 105,000 cases made. -HS We craft this wine to be our complex yet approachable Merlot. The wine offers aromas of black cherry, leather and spice with layers of rich dark red fruit flavors and a long, smooth, sweet finish. A touch of Syrah adds a jammy fruit character. I think of this wine as a great 'any day red.' - Bob Bertheau, Head WinemakerBlend:91% Merlot4% Syrah5% Blender varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache)Total Acidity: 0.51g/100mlpH: 3.79Alcohol: 13.5%
One of this winery's better efforts , it strikes a lovely balance, casting its ripe, beautifully focused cherry, currant and vaguely green, herbal aromas and flavors against a refined structure, finishing with fine-grained tannins.
The wine offers aromas of black cherry, leather and spice with layers of rich dark red fruit flavors.
The Indian Wells Merlot offers ripe berry fruit aromas and jammy flavors typical of Wahluke Slope reds. This is a full bodied style of warm climate Merlot with a round, supple finish.
Smooth and generous, focusing its currant and mocha flavors through a lively finish against supple tannins. Drink now through 2014.
Dark and rich, this is packed with blueberry, plum and currant fruit that picks up hints of white pepper and floral notes on the finish. Lingering easily, this should hold nicely. Drink now through 2014.
Succulent red plum flavors balance this wine's scents of violets and a cool evergreen note. There's plenty of rich flavors and a seductive, chewy texture, all held with poise by clean graphite tannins. For a charred steak.
Smooth and delicious- a super all around merlot that will go all out to please almost everyone.
