What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Wine Advocate ReviewRated 91My favorite of the four here is the 2005 Chardonnay Ethos, a barrel selection of the best Canoe Ridge and Cold Creek Vineyard fruit. A third of the wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts in 60% new French oak and remained on its lees for eight months. It has the most expressive aromatics, a broad, full-flavored palate, and a smooth texture. It will drink well over the next 3-5 years.
