Rather white peachy on the nose with underlying notes of fresh apple sauce and sweet sage leaf. Moderately sweet on entry with a lot of acidity making this vibrant and zesty on the palate. The fruit has a slightly tropical, exotic edge to it, showing off papaya and guava notes with a touch of ruby red grapefruit underneath. The grapefruit and some lime pith and mineral notes take over on the long finish that ends with a touch of mouth-cleansing astringency. This really is quite attractive, it just lacks a bit of life in the mouth. 88pts

Sweet, candied lime peel, apricot and apple aromas are layered on the nose. Noticeably sweet on entry, this has fine acid balance lending a transparent feel in the mouth and taking the edge right off the sweetness. The result is a medium-bodied, lime-based mid-palate with a touch of herb and apple peel complexity that extends over the moderately long finish. Nicely balanced and fresh if a touch simple, this checks all the boxes. 85pts

This smells downright seductive with nuanced notes of crisp baking apple, mineral, almost a touch of spicy cinnamon, with notes of lemon verbena and bay leaf. While not totally dry this is blessed with very assertive acids that help reinforce the wonderful deep and fresh core of wild apple fruit with deep mineral cut and lovely precision that extends over the long finish. This is just so zesty and pure with a wonderful vibrancy that makes is delicious on it’s own and a great match for lightly salty/fatty bites like prosciutto or mature washed rind cheeses. 91pts

My husband and I really love this wine, and he's not a wine guy! Perfect price and fantastic flavors. Not too alcoholic and strong sweetness and fruit flavors. Can't go wrong with this one!

This is a very nice, off-dry, crisp Riesling with good acidity and a 11.5% alcohol level. Light straw-color with aromas of honey, minerals, and melons. The taste is full of lime and orange with subtle mineral notes.

The 2006 Eroica delivers fresh mandarin orange and lime aromas and flavors with subtle mineral and slate notes. This Eroica shows the warm vintage through its slightly richer, bolder style than the previous vintage. Although slightly more fruit forward, the 2006 Eroica still achieves complexity from the diverse mix of vineyards we source from--including higher elevation vineyards on the fringes of the Columbia Valley, as well as the more traditional older vines from the Yakima Valley. - Bob Bertheau, Winemaker

Complex and compelling, this has a luscious mix of fruits that run the Riesling gamut. It's creamy and textural, fresh and primary, with exceptional aging potential and fine, juicy, natural acidity. - P.G. A light and tangy version, this is juicy with green apple and floral aromas and flavors, lingering on the deft, lightly sweet finish. Drink now through 2014. 24,000 cases made. -HS Pale yellow-straw. Sexy aromas of nectarine, ginger and nutmeg. Moderately sweet but not at all cloying, with nectarine, apple, pear and brown spice flavors complicated by a saline quality and perked up by white flowers and CO2. Not particularly gripping and very easy to drink. Finishes just off-dry, with a menthol nuance and a suggestion of crab apple that brought my score down.

Launched in 1999, Eroica is a labor of love for two of the world s great Riesling producers. One from the Old World, Dr. Loosen estate of Germany, and the other from the New World, Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington State.

Eroica has a proven ability to age; in fact it needs at least a half decade in the cellar to show its real strengths. Tight and packed with primary fruit flavors of lime and peach, this beautifully proportioned wine has perceptible sweetness but plenty of natural acidity. Lively and fresh today, but best given a few more years in the cellar. - P.G. The 2010 Eroica Riesling had just been bottled when I tasted it. It displays similar aromatics but with more elevated acidity, a characteristic of the vintage that provides considerable refreshment in the finish. Bright, pale yellow. Slightly candied aomas of nectarine, white peach, spring flowers and minerals. Off-dry and aromatic in the mouth but a bit one-dimensional, with moderate fruit intensity. Seemed to flatten out when the CO2 dissipated. Thins out on the back ending, finishing with hints of nuts and honey and a trace of warmth. ** SOLD OUT **

Winemaker's Notes:

~ To protect flavor intensity, grapes were harvested at night when the vineyard temperatures were coldest. ~ Berries went direct to press, avoiding the possible loss of freshness caused by a destemmer. ~ A cool fermentation created a seamless integration of fruit, sugar and acid. Fruit-driven yeasts with slower fermentation rates were used to slow down fermentation and heighten fruit flavors. ~ Ernst Loosen and Bob Bertheau considered dozens of small lots, each reflecting a slight difference in character depending on where the grapes were grown, resulting in the complexity of the final blend.
