Chatea St. Jean’s life started in 1920, when it was built as a summer home for Ernest and Maude Goff. It is located in Sugarloaf Ridge in the Sonoma Valley near the legendary Kenwood, California. While the 250 acres of land were originally planted with white grapes, Prohibition encouraged the planting of prunes and walnuts instead. When Chateau St. Jean was founded in 1973, the chateau was restored and opened to the public in honor of the Goff family. As the company says, “only the finest” from their wines, and they delivered on that promise in quick time. In 1999, Chateau St. Jean’s 1996 Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon won “Wine of the Year,” making the chateau the first Sonoma winery to receive this award. Chateau St. Jean was one of the pioneers in vineyard designation, stressing the importance of a grape’s origin. They didn’t just talk the talk - they took grapes from successful vineyards and made individually labeled Chardonnays, Pinot Noir, and Fumé Blanc. With the hard work and dedication of Margo Van Staaveren, the winemaker for Chateau St. Jean, the winery is able to make high quality wines with a persistent signature flavor profile across different vintages. really liked this, had very good berry not too sweet not too dry, just right went great with Thanksgiving dinner. A lot of cheaper pinots lack something, this one didn't

Nothing complicated here, just a Pinot with some real class and varietal distinction. You donrsquo;t age a wine like with, you savor it with real food. Dry and silky, with cherry, black raspberry and cola flavors ending with a swirl of dusty brown spice.

Supple and harmonious, with tasty plum, raspberry and black cherry fruit thatrsquo;s deftly balanced, ending with a complex fruity aftertaste and just the right amount of tannins, wood and acidity. Drink now through 2007.

Rich, chocolaty style, a bit heavy-handed, with herb, currant and wild berry flavors that are dense, oaky and a bit earthy. Drink now through 2005.

The perfect restaurant by-the-glass wine, and not only because itrsquo;s relatively affordable by todayrsquo;s Pinot standards. Crisp, light-bodied and elegant, itrsquo;s totally dry, with a pleasant array of ripe cherry, cherryskin, raspberry, cola and dusty spice flavors. Easy to find, with almost 20,000 cases produced.

Round with red fruit and a light, caramelized sweetness, this strawberry-scented pinot has a pleasingly rustic structure, for fennel sausages.

Lots of ripe, juicy plum, blackberry and wild berry flavors upfront turn smooth and creamy, showing a trace of heat on the finish. Drink now.
