This "bottom tier" Pinot from Chateau St. Jean is really quite impressive for the price. Varietal character is excellent, with a firm core of dark cherry and plum flavors, subtle spiciness, and attractive rose-like floral notes. If these characteristics were paired with a bit more depth, this would be a gem. Even so, extremely fairly priced for a Pinot Noir of this quality.

A young and bitter wine with a hot and harsh finish. Any fruit (unripened cherry) that might reach the palate is quickly destroyed by the alcohol. This wine should be taken as a shot then chased with something mild like vodka.

Parker rated the 2006 vintage at 89. I bought the '07 vintage for $11.99 and greatly enjoyed its sprightly fruit flavor and freshness. I will be buying more.

The 2003 Fumé Blanc is a steal. A medium-bodied, floral, spicy, crisp white with loads of character, it will be flexible with an assortment of culinary dishes. Enjoy it over the next 12-18 months.

A pleasant wine, with mild melon, mineral, citrus, peach and herb flavors. Light textured, medium bodied and quite refreshing. Clean on the finish.

A serviceable Sauvignon that fulfills the variety's duties of being dry and elegant. It serves up crisp flavors of lemons and limes, with sweet vanilla in the finish.

For starters, it's hard to find a better Sauvignon Blanc for the price that the 2004 Fumé Blanc. Offering loads of floral, herbal, melon, and fig notes, it is an elegant, medium-bodied, pure, fruity Fumé to drink over the next 1-2 years.

Melon, vanilla, grass and ripe fig flavors turn fat, with a plush texture and very good concentration, accented by lemony acidity and harmonious toasty oak. Drink now.

The 2001 Fumé Blanc is a delicious, fragrant, floral, pungent, spicy, fruit-driven, light to medium-bodied effort that is full of character as well as pleasure. At the price, it's a steal.

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting notes Enticing aromas of melon, pineapple, green tea and lime zest begin the nose on this Fum Blanc. Vibrant acidity and bright fruit flavors of kiwi fruit and a touch of grapefruit awaken the palate and lead to a beautiful finish with hints of key lime.
