Chatea St. Jean’s life started in 1920, when it was built as a summer home for Ernest and Maude Goff. It is located in Sugarloaf Ridge in the Sonoma Valley near the legendary Kenwood, California. While the 250 acres of land were originally planted with white grapes, Prohibition encouraged the planting of prunes and walnuts instead. When Chateau St. Jean was founded in 1973, the chateau was restored and opened to the public in honor of the Goff family. As the company says, “only the finest” from their wines, and they delivered on that promise in quick time. In 1999, Chateau St. Jean’s 1996 Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon won “Wine of the Year,” making the chateau the first Sonoma winery to receive this award. Chateau St. Jean was one of the pioneers in vineyard designation, stressing the importance of a grape’s origin. They didn’t just talk the talk - they took grapes from successful vineyards and made individually labeled Chardonnays, Pinot Noir, and Fumé Blanc. With the hard work and dedication of Margo Van Staaveren, the winemaker for Chateau St. Jean, the winery is able to make high quality wines with a persistent signature flavor profile across different vintages. Golden straw bright, aromas of mandarin orange, pear and banana; bright flavor notes of tropical citrus, melon, pineapple and a kiss of flint, balanced with moderate acidity and a medium finish.

2009 : Citrus flavors, slight dryness, adding a white pepper follow through, crisp. Not very impress less then expected; average to that of a $5.00 - $7.00 bottle with slightly higher price tag; in a nut shell? Average 80!

Distinctive for citrus and mineral qualities. A bit of barrel falvor makes this a really nicely balanced fume.

Holy cattle, whata wonderful wine if you like older Sauvignon Blancs. Heavy yellow oxidized color. The nose and mouth was very petolium and burnt caramel. Burnt orange with alot of acid on the mid palet with a gorgious butterscotch finish ... pretty awsome.

Pale straw in color. Aromas of smoke and citrus. Round taste of melons, oak, citrus, and pear on the palate. Good QPR, if a little disjointed. Advise opening a bit before serving and letting some of the initially strong oak settle down a bit.

The Chateau St. Jean Sonoma County Fumé Blanc is extremely inviting with vivid aromas of peach, nectarine, fresh fig and a soft floral citrus note. The nose leads to luscious palate with flavors of red sweet apple, lemon citrus and a touch of honey. There is a core of vibrant lemon-lime acidity on the finish which makes the wine bright and very food friendly. - Winery

Lifted nose that is reminiscent of hay and baked apple. Medium-bodied and silky palate that is dry with moderate acidity; fresh grass and pear dominate the palate with a spicy, peppery finish.

Pear, peach, nectarine and apricot flavors are vibrant and fresh, with lovely juicy acidity and a pretty floral note that echoes on the long finish, where the fruit flavors turn toward the tropical side. Drink now.

Crisp and refreshing, this Fumé offers fragrant aromas of green tea, lemongrass and lemon meringue pie. Flavors of grapefruit, spice and wet stone combine with lively acidity, creating a beautifully balanced wine with a lingering lemon zest finish.
