External Reviews for Chateau St. Jean Chardonnay Alexander Valley Robert Young Vineyard
Fresh aromas of yellow fruit, citrus zest and hints of honeysuckle and smoke introduce the nose of this single vineyard Chardonnay. A medium-bodied entry fills the mouth with notes of pear, citrus, honey and nutmeg. Balanced acidity and lingering notes of Meyer lemon make this an excellent food wine.
Winemaker's Notes:
88 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): The 2009 Chardonnay Robert Young is a rich, textured wine loaded with tropical fruit, butterscotch, French oak and spices. This is a typical California Chardonny that delivers considerable pleasure for the money. The combination of rich fruit and powerful, insistent minerality works beautifully. Brighter notes appear on the polished finish. As has always been the case, the Robert Young is aged in French oak barrels, with stirring of the lees but blocked malolactic fermentation. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. (Feb 2012)
