Kenwood Vineyard's Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is made predominantly of fruit sourced from Estate ranches in Sonoma Valley. Each vineyard lot is kept separate throughout fermentation and aging to preserve the unique flavors of the individual vineyards that create this rich, complex, and fruity wine that has flavor reminiscent of raspberry truffles. Enjoyable now, the wine in this bottle will continue to improve with age. Serve the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon with rich pasta dishes, lamb and steak.

  Chatea St. Jean’s life started in 1920, when it was built as a summer home for Ernest and Maude Goff. It is located in Sugarloaf Ridge in the Sonoma Valley near the legendary Kenwood, California. While the 250 acres of land were originally planted with white grapes, Prohibition encouraged the planting of prunes and walnuts instead. When Chateau St. Jean was founded in 1973, the chateau was restored and opened to the public in honor of the Goff family. As the company says, “only the finest” from their wines, and they delivered on that promise in quick time. In 1999, Chateau St. Jean’s 1996 Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon won “Wine of the Year,” making the chateau the first Sonoma winery to receive this award. Chateau St. Jean was one of the pioneers in vineyard designation, stressing the importance of a grape’s origin. They didn’t just talk the talk - they took grapes from successful vineyards and made individually labeled Chardonnays, Pinot Noir, and Fumé Blanc. With the hard work and dedication of Margo Van Staaveren, the winemaker for Chateau St. Jean, the winery is able to make high quality wines with a persistent signature flavor profile across different vintages. An everyday favorite, the St Jean Cab is full-bodied, fruit-forward and very easy to drink. This is a wine you can pour just about everyday - loaded with black and red fruits, smooth tannins and subtle oak.

Dry and balanced, it shows the deft hand of the winery, a softly delicious Bordeaux-style wine with lushly ripe cherry, cassis and spicy oak flavors, and a long, smooth, elegant finish.

The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium-bodied effort with a ripe attack revealing notes of red and black currants, cedar, spice box, and tobacco leaf. It should be consumed over the next 7-8 years.
