Winemaker's Notes:

The Chardonnay grapes chosen for this reserve wine were pressed as whole clusters to yield the most delicate juice possible. The juice was then sent directly to French oak barrels (62% new) for fermentation. The wines were topped and then aged on the yeast lees with frequent stirring in the barrels. The rich, forward fruit of Russian River Chardonnay and the tropical fruit character from the 14% Alexander Valley Chardonnay – coupled with 14 months of barrel age and full malolactic fermentation – created multi-layered spicy and toasty complexities as well as the dense, extracted mouthfeel that has become the hallmark of the Souverain Winemaker's Reserve Chardonnay.
