A reasonably good value is the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma, which reveals aromas and flavors of cedar, roasted herbs, black cherries, and spice. Medium-bodied with deep fruit, it is meant to be consumed over the next 4ndash;5 years.

Souverain consistently produces a good, sometimes very good Cabernet at a decent price point, and their rsquo;05 is right up there with past vintages. Dry, balanced and rich in tannins, it has classic varietal notes of black currants, cedar and herbs. Should develop for the next four or five years.

Both the 2005 and 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley are straightforward, easy-going, mid-weight, pleasant efforts to drink during their first 5ndash;7 years of life.

The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is another very good value. Ripe black currant, herb, and spice box aromas are followed by a medium-bodied, attractive, fruity Cabernet with good texture, depth, and richness, and no hard edges. It should drink nicely for 7ndash;8 years.

This distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon from the acclaimed Alexander Valley contains rich, concentrated flavors of currant, blackberry and chocolate balanced by soft tannins and sweet vanilla, oak nuances. A real crowd pleaser.

Firm and juicy currant flavors soften into the finish, where the wine turns toward chocolatey tannins. Therersquo;s a green edge to the fruit, to match grilled lamb chops.

The richly fruity, straightforward 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley possesses spicy oak, elegant black currant fruit, tapenade, and underbrush characteristics. This tasty, fruit-forward, reasonably good value can be drunk over the next 7ndash;8 years.

Winemaker's Notes:

The Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon shows a deep, ruby color with a purple rim and offers rich aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and vanilla on the nose. This well - structured wine fills the mouth with intense flavors of black cherry, coffee and spice that leads into subtle notes of vanilla and chocolate, which lasts throughout a long toasty oak finish.
