Chateau Souverain Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

Winemaker's Notes:

"As a result of the long growing season, this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon shows deep, dark color and rich, ripe plum, chocolate and vanilla aromas on the nose. A round, supple mouth begins with black cherry and coffee that leads into subtle notes of dried herb, smoky vanilla and bittersweet chocolate that lasts throughout a long toasty oak finish. Alexander Valley Appellation Diversity drives Alexander Valley. From the gravelly well-drained, low yield soils of the benchlands to the montage of alluvial material from both sedimentary and volcanic sources deposited by the Russian River, this growing region supports a wide range of varietal grapes. The largest influence on the valley is the fog from the Pacific Ocean that creates cool evenings and enables the grapes to retain sufficient natural acidity, framing the fruits' essence. "

Aging beautifully with Medium tannins and complex flavors of dried blackberry, very balanced acidity now. Wonderful.
