Dark with almost an inky color, the nose is has the leafy greenness I associate with Merlot. Fleshy but not tannic this is a soft easy wine. notes of spice and cocoa in the mouth. Nice, soft exit with some lingering flavors of spice.

This is only my second full bottle of Sociando-Mallet, and it does not disappoint; the wine has an incredible, enticing aroma of fresh blackberries and coffee - wonderful. Deep red in colour, it enters the mouth gently and smoothly, with deep black fruit flavours on the palate and soft, but lengthy tannin on the finish. Over the top for an Haut-Medoc. 91 points.

medium in body, nose, and acidity. a still-youthful ruby. graphite, plum skin, grapeseed on the nose. pretty lightweight and silky tannins for such a wine. was expecting more; perhaps it's closed?

Bright, Medium Intensity Color. Raisin, Strawberry, Jammy, Light Cedar, Tobacco and Herbal/Earth on the Nose. Plum and Fruit Palate but with a god core of acid. Dry, Medium Body Wine, Medium Acidity with a Medium length finish --Easy to Drink on its own but best paired with a food with some heft.

Purple color of good intensity. Nose of average aromatics appearing fruity fresh with vanilla flavours since this wine is aged in 100% new wood. Smooth very fruity and caressing on the palate yet lacking a bit of depth in this vintage. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com

The 2011 may turn out to be even better than the 2009 Sociando Maillet. Its opaque purple color is not unusual for a young Sociando Maillet, but the creme de cassis, graphite and floral characteristics impressively saturate the olfactory senses. Medi... Medium to full-bodied with excellent purity texture and length as well as remarkably sweet tannins this wine should drink nicely for 10-15 years. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

48% cabernet sauvignon 47% merlot 5% cabernet franc. 85 hectares planted on Gunzian gravels over clay sub-soil with an average vine age of 30 years. Perfumed black and blue fruit dominate the nose with secondary bramble notes of spice and mocha. Rich and evolved on the palate blackberry and boysenberry show silky and lush in the modern styled medium-to-full-bodied wine. Fine-grained well-manicured tannins match the ultra ripe fruit. Great value for the appellation. Enjoy over the next 15 years. Andy Frieden.
