Incredible concentration from the nose to the finish - beginning with a beautifully complex nose of almonds, peaches and minerals. There was a touch of intriguing funk which blew off shortly after opening. Rich and full bodied, good acidity and well balanced. Judicious use of oak, resulting in some nice spice on the finish. Enjoyed with Sarments du Medoc (mint chocolate sticks), but paired well after with greek salad. An early Christmas gift.

Robert Parker 93 Points A top-notch success, the dense ruby/purple-colored 2006 Smith-Haut-Lafitte offers aromas of smoky, juicy black currants, graphite, earth, truffles, and forest floor. Full-bodied with superb purity, noticeable but sweet tannins, this round, generous, long wine should drink nicely for 15-20+ years. Wine Spectator 92 Points Gorgeous aromas of dark chocolate, cappuccino and berries lead to a full body, with luscious fruit and round tannins. Long and voluptuous for the vintage. Impressive. Best after 2014. 10,000 cases made.–JS International Wine Cellar 92 Points Full red-ruby. Expressive nose offers plum, black raspberry, tobacco, mocha, truffle, licorice and herbs. Suave, fine-grained and vibrant; generous and plush yet light on its feet. Finishes very long and classy, with sweet tannins, terrific energy and palate-coating persistence and perfume. Not as fat or full as the 2005, but just a step behind that wine.

Bright, pale yellow. Musky aromas of yellow plum, ginger and quinine, with a light resiny nuance. Fat, broad and sweet, but with lovely acidity and lift to leaven its plump, mouthfilling richness. I picked up a superripe suggestion of banana as well ... Stephen Tanzer. A Bordeaux Blanc wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Blanc 750ml

Thanks to its 67 hectares of superb gravelly vineyards, Smith Haut Lafitte is often referred to as the "archetypal Graves". The estate's history goes back to the Crusades, and a Scottish navigator, George Smith, became owner of the estate in the 18th century. He was followed by M. Duffour- Dubergier,Mayor of Bordeaux, and then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. In 1990 Daniel and Florence Cathiard also fell under the spell of this beautiful estate. Since then, they restored the 16th century tower, renovated the 18th century manor house, built two underground cellars, went back to traditional vine growing methods without chemical herbicides and set up their own cooperage.

Another gorgeous white Graves from this vintage, this wine offers up notes of honeysuckle, lanolin, sweet citrus, and hints of orange peel as well as quince and white currants. It is medium to full-bodied, with fresh acidity, subtle nuances of smoky ... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blanc wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Blanc 750ml

The aroma is ripe and multidimensional, offering a mélange of yellow and white fruits and oak accents. Ripe and complex, the taste offers an alluring richness and mouthfeel without being excessive. A very high quality example. Robert Parker 93. Tasted from barrel April '07.
