Château Smith Haut Lafitte Red Bordeaux Blend Pessac-Léognan 2003

Member Review by Sergio Vito:

a gorgeous Bordeaux that will benefit from 4-5 years of quite rest. very elegant tannins with a subdued acidity. macerated black fruit mingles with layers of dark roast coffee, mocha and cream. the oak is incredibly integrated. after few hours of decanting notes of dry flowers and spice box will emerge and overwhelm your olfaction. the finish is rich and exotic.

This vintage goes down as the most difficult and perplexing of the century. It called for rigorous selection of the grapes and delicate pressing. Pure success at this Château for the tannins are firm yet silken in texture. Full of dense fruit and a note of cedar. A touch of Petit Verdot was added for this first time ever.
