Château Simone is a winery that has been in the Rougier family in Meyreuil, in Provence, France, since 1830. But evidence suggests wine grapes have existed on the territory for many previous centuries. The vineyard’s elevation on north-facing slopes of the Montaiguet massif, which is protected by the wind and influenced by the Arc river, lend a distinct microclimate. This coupled with its Tertiary limestone, clay, pebble and gravel soil all contribute to growing well-balanced fruit. Many of the vines on the property are well over 100 years old, thanks to the quick-thinking Rougier family who replanted vines early on in the Phylloxera crisis. The grapes are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The wines are red, white and rosé blends, all different native varieties grown on site.
