Château Sigalas Rabaud Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Sauternes 2009

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

Mid gold. Fresh less intensely sweet than some and still quite chewy. Very youthful. Confident. Just a bit lean. 17/20 Jancis Robinson.

The Sigalas-Rabaud has a well defined nose: grapefruit, nectarine, honey and lime, much more primal than some of the other 2009s. The palate is very well balanced with excellent acidity: apricot, honeysuckle, a touch of orange zest and then vibrant w... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2009 Sigalas Rabaud 750ml

Pale saturated lemon-yellow. Fresh floral aromas of apricot citrus fruits and saffron. Not a huge wine but boasts lovely fruit concentration and inner-mouth aromatic perfume with juicy acidity nicely lifting the flavors of candied lemon peel apricot and honey. Lighter and more subtle than most Sauternes this is neither honeyed nor syrupy but rather delicate compact and very well balanced. Finishes moderately long with a pretty white pepper note. Sigalas-Rabaud can be a very Barsac-like S

Lush but defined with a lovely floral and green tea frame to the dried pineapple quince pear and yellow apple fruit flavors which are seamless through the long lightly toasted coconut-tinged finish. Very suave. S

Sigalas-Rabaud can be a very Barsac-like Sauternes; and though it can pair with a number of dishes even white meats it always makes an outstanding aperitif. It s no different in 09.
