Chateau Senejac 2011
Winemaker's Notes:
This beautiful ancient baronial estate dates back to the 1500s. A succession of noble owners have run the property, the most recent being the Count de Guigne. The Rustmann family, with ties to Chateau Talbot, purchased the property in 1999 and has vowed to make one of the region's best wines. They have installed state-of-the art winemaking equipment and a strictly select of only the finest grapes in the vineyard, which contributes to a greatly improved wine. Classified as a Cru Bourgeois Superieur in the 2003 classification, this is a property to seek out for value and quality. Chateau Senejac was named 'One of the 50 estates that deserve special attention' by the Wine Spectator in 2008, this estate, under the direction of the Rustmann family, is one of the top estates of the Haut-Medoc.
The story of this estate dates back to the 16th century but in 1999 it was bought by the late Lorraine Cordier whose family also own Chateau Talbot in Saint Julien. It consists of 150 hectares on sand and gravel soils of which 39 are under vine. Only red wines are made. In 2003 it was made a Cru Bourgeoise Superior. There are two second wines Artigues de Senejac and La Bergerie de Senejac
