Sainte Colombe - Cotes de Castillon FUTURES

One of the least expensive wines from Gandeacute;rard Perseandrsquo;s three Candocirc;tes de Castillon estates, the 2005 Ste-Colombe is unquestionably the softest and most immediately accessible. Its dark ruby color is followed by a concoction of ripe, sweet black currant and cherry fruit, incense, spring flowers, and spice. Drink this richly fruity 2005 over the next 4andndash;5 years.

(tasted from cuve shortly before bottling) Medium-deep red. Black cherry, licorice and a minty nuance on the nose. Juicy, penetrating and youthful, with good density and power. The wine's substantial tannins will require at least a few years of patie... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Sainte Colombe 1500ml

Medium in body but filled with flavor. Black cherry, spice box and currant. Lush in its flavors and carried along by soft tannins. Great ’05 drinker.

Moderately saturated medium red. Rather high-toned aromas of cherry red plum licorice herbs and pepper. Bright acidity gives this wine good juicy cut and verve. A very fresh style of 2005 but seemingly a bit less dense in bottle than it was in barrel. I’d drink this sooner rather than later.

Winemaker's Notes:

A great example of an appellation punching above its weight, from a truly greatvintage.2005 yielded grapes of perfect ripeness so there was wonderfulconsistency amongst the wines of the region across all price points. This wineexhibits juicy, lush, plummy characteristics, backed by fine-grained tannins, and has surprising complexity on the finish. Try it with grilled lamb or lightgame dishes.
