Château Saint Martin de la Garrigue Picpoul de Pinet Coteaux du Languedoc 2012

External Review:

Bring on the pool lounge chairs and sunglasses. Lemon Zest and elderflower on the nose, bright crisp acidity, and a rich mouthfeel define this lovely Picpoul from Southern France. According to The New France: Perhaps the best wine for me is an astonishing Picpoul de Pinet, picked very late from low-yielding vines: those who consider this an inarticulate if refreshing choice, the Muscadet of the Midi, should try this mint-and-verbena-scented, powerfully lemony wine.

This wine is medium bodied, grapy, and earthy. What a value for the price!

Discovered this during a Kermit tasting at my local wine shop and brought some home. Slight brine on the nose, herb, cola and lavender notes. Smooth tongue coating tannins. Well balanced, enjoyable and really unique.

Big, full bodied. My husband loved this but I did not.

I had the 2007 vintage. It was a bit harsh as if it needed to age a bit more. Although a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, the Syrah really dominates. Not nearly as smooth and tasteful as other Languedoc AOC wines I've had.
