Château Saint-Andre Corbin:
This place has a long history going back to the Roman poet and consul Ausonius but it was bought by Jean Phillippe Saby in 2003. His family have been involved in viticulture since the 18th century and also own a number of other right bank properties

I bought this bottle of wine from a wine merchant in Sussex for £12. Saint Georges Saint Emilion is an AOC created in 1936 for red wines from around the hamlet of that name in the Montagne commune. It is the smallest of the four 'satellite ' Saint Emilion AOC's.My bottle comes from a well-established estate and consists of 75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc,a fairly typical blend for a right bank claret, and is aged in oak barrels.I started the bottle last night with my supper of roast lamb and I did enjoy it. There is plenty of a blackcurrant and plum style fruit there and the tannins are soft and well structured. There is also a hint of smoke especially on the finish.I thought it an OK wine which went well with the lamb
