Chateau Routas Rose Rouviere 2017

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Lemon, chalk and wild raspberry aromas greet the nose along with a sweet tarry edge. An unusually textured wine, rather soft and supple but at the same time firm and tight. There’s nice fruit here, a bit too much sugar adding richness for this to be dry, but the flavors of cherry and raspberry flecked with spicy mineral notes are attractive. The finish is bursting with grapefruit pith, peach and raspberry fruit, all dusted with a suggestion of white pepper. This is really quite lovely. 88pts

It is surrounded by tiny medieval villages that cling to steep cliffs and overlooks miles of spectacular hillsides, woods and rivers. Currently 12,000 cases are produced of Rhone-style, estate-grown and bottled wines that have been met with positive comment since their first vintage in 1992. In 2005 Scotland's Sir David Murray took ownership, ushering in a new era for Chateau Routas. Read less

Clear light orange color. Light fresh nose with orange peel and floral notes, rose, citrus and light green notes.

This wine was great. Great spice from the Syrah. The grenache adds a nice bit of old school to this one.

Such a great everyday drinker. I'm down, drinking a bottle right now! Haven't seen it for the price they are suggesting here on Snooth but it's a great $11.
