Château Rollan de By Medoc 2008
Since 1989, Rollan de By has found its style. On one hand, the terroir allows it to obtain well-bred and subtle wines and on the other hand, the work carried out in the vineyard and on the wines takes place with the greatest respect for the practices of the Medoc. The grape varieties planted are dominated by Merlot, providing wines with a fat and rounded character and the meticulous ageing magnifies all of their complexity. Jean Guyon, surrounded with well-known consultants as Alain Raynaud, continues the work he star- ted when he bought this domain, in order to stay at the heart of the Bordeaux elite.

Aromas of black cherries, damp earth and cedar show with air, leading to a luscious, rich mouthfeel. Seductive and sophisticated, this wine is well-deserving of its number 96 ranking on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2010. Food pairing: pasta, red meats Flavor type: traditional Body type: medium-full Finish: rich
As usual, this is a delicious northern Médoc, with the 2008 displaying a dense ruby/purple color as well as sweet notes of black fruits intermixed with damp earth, lead pencil shavings, roasted herbs, and spice. Medium-bodied with good flesh, dense fruit, and sweet tannin, it should drink nicely for a decade.
Ripe but restrained, with nicely sinewy embedded, structure carrying solid black currant, black cherry and fig fruit, followed by graphite and sweet earth on the finish. Drink now through 2011.
