Winemaker's Notes:

Château Ramage La Batisse Haut-Medoc 2005 is considered a Red Bordeaux blend. The average age of the vines for the grapes is 35 years, and they are grown in soil which is sandy and gravelly. The property’s motto is said to be: Thoroughness and Quality. The consulting Oenologist is Georges Pauli, very well known in Bordeaux for his 30 plus years of work on Château Gruaud-Larose. Many of the winemaking processes are carried out manually, including harvesting. The vines are pruned low and thin before harvest time, for better maturity. After harvesting, sorting is done at the end of the vineyard rows and in the cellar. Continuing a traditional, each vat is monitored individually and heat regulated, and fermentation occurs at 28°C for 12-21 days. The juice is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 1/3 of which are new, noted to bring more finesse to the wine. Ramage la Batisse wines win medals every year and are mentioned in the most respected wine publications and press, both within France and internationally.
