Juicy, *moderately dense and intensely flavored*, with a restrained sweetness and lovely inner-mouth perfume to the dark berry, violet and menthol flavors. Intense red purple color. Very ripe fresh fruity and aromatic nose. Smoothly caressing on the palate the wine is velvety and chubby. It develops well structured melting and enjoyable. Full ruby-red. Cassis, plum, licorice, bitter chocolate and fresh herbs on the nose and palate, with tobacco and menthol nuances emerging with air. Supple and chewy but classically dry and not particularly fleshy, with oak, peppery herbs, iron and intriguing soil tones building in the glass. An elegant, pliant midweight that finishes with firm tannic backbone and a light menthol quality. - Stephen Tanzer 89 PointsAromas of dark fruits and sweet tobacco lead to a medium body, with chewy tannins and a fruity, minerally aftertaste. A little austere, but pleasant enough. Should soften with bottle age. Drink now. 6,250 cases made. JS - Wine Spectator Magazine 86 Points
