Château Quinault l'Enclos Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

"An extraordinarily elegant Quinault with remarkable purity and texture... A top-notch success... exhibits sweet aromas of spring flowers, blueberries, and raspberries. Medium-bodied and layered, with attractive sweetness, ripe tannin, a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, and alcohol, and a long finish, it will drink beautifully in 3-4 years, and should last for 15 or more thereafter...92-94" WA 5/07.

The estate consists of a walled vineyard of 18 hectares [ clos ] now surrounded by the suburbs of the town of Libourne, and is thought to date back to Roman times. It has a long and chequered history [in the 1930's part of it was taken over  to become a cemetery ] but in 1997 Alan and Francoise Reynauad, who already owned two estates in Pomerol, bought it and began a programme of improvements and brought in Michal Rolland and Denis Dubourdieu as consultants. In 2008 they sold up to Bernard Arnault who already had other estates in Saint-Emilion.The 2012 classification confirmed the estate as a Grand Cru Classe.Only red wines are made. The main wine is called Chateau Quinault L'Enclos but there is also a second wine called Lafleur de Quinault and two special cuvees, Reserve de Quinault and L'Absolut de Quinault which are not made every year. The 2006 Quinault l'Enclos exhibits the elegant style that Raynaud has achieved in every vintage over the last decade. Sweet black raspberry and currant fruit along with hints of spring flowers and smoky oak are followed by a round, gentle, restraine... Robert Parker. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Quinault l'Enclos 3000ml
