Chateau Puypezat-Rosette 2016

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £10 from the Chateau owner when I attended the 2018 London France Show back in January. He was there to promote both his estate and the small and little known Rosette appellation.Although there has been viticulture in the area for centuries the appellation was created in 1946.It is an appellation for sweet and semi-sweet white wines with a minimum ABV of 11% from 6 communes just north of the City of Bergerac although there arte less than 30 hectares under vine.My bottle consists of 50% semillon,30% sauvignon gris and 20% muscadelle.I started it last night with a plate of bread and cheese. It is a sweet wine but not as sweet as say a sauternesThere is plenty of an apricot and pineapple style fruit with a little citrus and also a hint of perfume and elderflower. There are certainly plenty of flavours for the drinker.Bland or mineral this is not

Chateau Puypezat:
This 23 hectare estate was bought by Frederic de Monner, who already owned nearby Chateau Sanxet. in 2015 and he is assisted by Cecile Satin in its operations. They produce a range of red, rose and white wines under the Rosette,Bergerac and Monbazillac appellations. The estate is in the process of becoming organic
