Showing the heights the region can hit, as well as representing an absolutely stunning value, the 2009 Château Puech-Haut Coteaux du Languedoc Saint-Drézéry Cuvée Prestige, a blend of 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah aged all in concrete vats, presents a h... Château Puech-Haut:
Château Puech-Haut is a biodynamically farmed estate in the Languedoc in southern France. Gerald Bru oversees production, with many important winemakers over the years including Michel Rolland, Claude Gros and Phillipe Cambie. Many of the grapes are sourced from older vines, some 60-75 years old, resulting in very concentrated and structured flavors. The fruit for the wines was originally sold to other winemakers, then Puech-Haut began producing wine under its own label starting in 1996. Others include the “Bosc Negre,” which is made of 100% Mourvedre and the all-Grenache “Quercus.”  Read less

I'm infringing on David Schildknecht's territory, but he has not yet tasted this wine. From a bio-dynamically farmed estate, this 2009 is a blend of 55% Grenache (from 60- to 75-year-old vines) and 45% Syrah (from 40-year-old vines), all planted in l... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. 55% grenache and 45% syrah, both from old vines. Inky red and black at the core. Right off the bat, there is a ton of complexity in this cuvée. The nose is gorgeous, with juicy black cherry, iodine, graphite, licorice, and rocky minerals. After some ... Cory Gowan.
