The 1989 Potensac is a big, intense, alcoholic wine with exceptional ripeness, full body, and a long, chewy, fleshy finish. Anticipated maturity: Now-1999.
Firm and well-done, with focused berry and mineral character throughout. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine and sleek tannins and a long, racy finish. From Jean-Hubert Delon of Las Cases. Best after 2006.
Good medium ruby-red. Slightly medicinal aromas of blueberry, dark chocolate and game, with a liqueur-like exotic quality. Tightly wound and penetrating; in a rather brutal stage today, and not showing the lushness or sweetness of the vintage. Finishes firmly tannic, with a note of licorice.
Das Bouquet ist klassisch: Gewürzaromen, herbale Noten, gepaart mit Leder, Tabak und Beerenfrucht. Diese Aromatik vermag sich bis ins lange anhaltende, konsistente Finale konsequent in Szene zu setzen. Samtige, reife Gerbstoffe treffen im Gaumen auf eine fruchtige Struktur, die diesem Gewächs ein Rückgrat und einen eigenen Charakter verleihen. Der Château Potensac verlangt nach einigen Jahren der Flaschenreife, um seine erstklassigen Anlagen voll zum Ausdruck bringen und dem Weingeniesser ein vollendetes Genusserlebnis vermitteln zu können.
Potensac's 1990 is almost as good as their 1989. It is deeply colored, with plenty of body, an attractive, pure, curranty, earthy nose, medium to full body, a classic structure, and a long finish. Drink this impressive wine over the next decade.
(Barrel tasting) Racy. Ripe plum, with plenty of tobacco. Medium- to full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a flavorful finish.
