In 1921, François Theil bought one third. All the vintages as from 1957 were signed Jean Theil, who succeeded in reuniting the three châteaux into a single winery, as it was before 1880. Since 1981, the estate has been run by three of his sons, Philippe, Jean-Pierre and François Theil. In March 1997, the seven children created the Société Anonyme Jean THEIL. Over the last 15 years, the production area has been increased by 10 hectares. Considerable investments have been made for the cellars, with temperature control, ageing in new oak barrels, and increasingly stringent selection of the harvest, driven by a constant concern for quality. Known in the 14th century under the name of ôLa Salle de Poujeauxö, Château Poujeaux has belonged to the Theil family since 1921. Jo Gryn of Gault- Millau magazine describes the wine as follows: ôAn authentic aristocrat among the great wines of the Médoc, a great growth disguised as a Cru Bourgeoisö. The château has long had an excellent reputation based on its virtual obsession with quality. Poujeaux is always deep in colour, with a subtle bouquet and soft, silky tannin that is never aggressive even when the wine is young. Château Poujeaux is powerful, elegant, charming and well-balanced. The Theil family's policy is trying to always to improve their wine and to do justice to the estate's outstanding terroir. There is every reason to believe that this excellent estate is headed for an even brighter future

Poujeaux is produced from 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The perfume is filled with boysenberry, earth and mocha. In the mouth, the wine offers spicy, chocolate covered cassis, round textures and tannins to age. Jeff Leve. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Poujeaux 1500ml

Very primal, with cassis and violet running from start to finish, backed by a lightly chalky, slightly tight finish. Shows the austere side of the vintage, but has admirable length. Tasted non-blind. -J.M. Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Potensac 1500ml

A blend of 48% Merlot 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Cabernet Franc with 7.3% vin de presse delivering 13.9% alcohol this has a ripe blackberry nose with raspberry kirsch a touch of cassis and cedar all cloaked in warm alcohol. The palate is full-bodied with ripe slightly chewy tannins very good weight certainly more complexity that recent vintages well defined towards the finish and coping with that alcohol adeptly. This is a better Potensac than in recent years but still a little "conservative"
