Chateau Potensac Medoc 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

The wines from Château Poujeaux always come with a deep, strong colour. The subtle aromas, the soft, mellow tannins are never aggressive, even in the young wine. The wines are characterised by their power, charm, elegance and character.

I just opened a bottle from my cellar to see where this wine is - still very youthful. Needs at least 2-3 more years to develop. That is not to say you cannot decant today and enjoy. A very balanced effort - great fruit showing through.

A pleasant wine with plum, berry and light tobacco aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with a fresh finish and a lightly tannic texture. Best after 2009. 25,000 cases made. -JS Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2003 Poujeaux 750ml

One of the best Potensacs in many years this elegant 2003 boasts loads of black cherry and currant flavors with hints of damp earth and licorice. The wine is medium-bodied and relatively chunky with good flesh and intensity. It should drink well young yet age nicely for 7-8 years. This 2003 represents a fine value from one of the best run cru bourgeois estates. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Burgundy, FranceNicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Echanges is a gorgeous red Burgundy certain to delight any lover of Pinot Noir. Maison Nicolas Potel was founded by Nicolas Potel in 1997 and is managed today in the spirit of its founder to source and vinify small lots of hand crafted wines from selected appellations throughout Burgundy's Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits. This first-growth Burgundy received 90-point ratings from both Wine & Spirits and Wine Spectator! The Wine Spectator review was written in April 2006: "A chunky, robust style, with dense tannins underlying the black cherry, chocolate and spice notes. It's concentrated, yet brooding, needing time to come together. Best from 2008 through 2015. 200 cases made." For us, this is a true wine gem!Nicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Echanges is deep garnet red in color, medium-full in body, soft and velvety with silky tannins. It offers a beautiful nose and palate of black cherries, raspberries, earth, spice and mineral notes. The wine was aged in French oak barrels. Its elegant finish shows off the depth, length and earthy minerality reserved for great Burgundy.Enjoy Nicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Echanges over the next 7-8 years with roast pork, grilled salmon, pasta, rich vegetable dishes, and aged cheeses.
