Lots of oak on the nose with big notes of candied cinnamon spice, red fruits, citrussy tones and hints of sandalwood and even some exotic guava tones – a bit thick on entry, seamless if still showing strong oak influences, lots of jammy fruit, black currant, crème de cassis, acids are b a bit spiky, tannins are powdery and raw on the moderately long finish (89-90)

Pretty nose, nice, approachable and balanced. Currant and slight dark licorice. Full bodied with velvety tannins and a caressing finish. Wonderfully rounded with great depth and balance. Nice flavor of red berry shining through the dense mouthfeel. Very nice! - Blind tasted 9/15/10

This year the wine is made from a very large majority of cabernet sauvignon 90% and 10% merlot. Lovely intense and shinny color. For now the nose is rather discreet yet upon swirling it reveals depth fruit a smoky characteristic and once more some cherry aromas. Lovely on entry the wine develops sliding on the palate both juicy and silky. It evolves fruity less pulpy than the 2005 of course towards a long finish made of fine-grained tannins. The body is rather classic from its balance and its straight style on the palate that is induced by the strong presence of cabernet sauvignon. A success of the vintage. Purple color of good intensity. Fruity floral fresh and ripe nose. Very lovely and tasty on entry the wine develops finely pulpy with taste flesh and fine tannins. Enjoyable and aromatic on the finish. This is delicious and with depth. Good length. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com

A solid wine, with plenty of rose petal, berry and currant character. Full and chewy. Ripe and very powerful. Wait and see, but impressive for the vintage. Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2007 Ducru Beaucaillou 3000ml

Deep red color with a light ruby rim. Expressive aromas of chocolate, coffee, and mocha with some dark fruits in there as well. Ripe blackberry and blueberry attribute to a luscious and delightful mid-palate. Showing good concentration and complexit... Alex Lallos. Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: It is a heresy severe enough to get you excommunicated, but in our view Pontet-Canet is as good as the First Growths in 2007. Working the vineyards according to organic and even biodynamic principles, dryly humorous owner Alfred Tesseron has produced a 2007 with a lovely pure black fruit nose, ripe but present tannins, a mouth-watering finish and arguably the finest quality fruit in the vintage: silky, luscious, blackberries and plums with oodles of minerals, coffee, cedar and tobacco. Since the outstanding 2004, Pontet-Canet has been a must-have wine every year; in 2007 this is truer than ever.
