In 1929, three kilometres from the famous church tower of Saint-Emilion, a talented man of vision, Georges Mestreguilhem founded the family estates by purchasing Château Pipeau. His son, Pierre Mestreguilhem continued to enhance the estate, thereby confirming the spirit of the family. Thus was born the real spirit of the lineage, from careful tending of the vines, to obtain optimum maturity. Thank's to strict wine-making rules, Château Pipeau imposed its style, with expressive fruit, an opulent nose of red berries, with great body, yet also softness. Since then, Richard and Dominique, Pierre’s son and daughter, have taken charge of the destiny of Château Pipeau. There was an addition to the family in 1989, with the takeover of the management of Château Joinin, another family estate located in Rauzan, in the Entre-Deux-Mers. Brigitte Mestreguilhem and her husband Richard make their own wine there, a pleasantly fruity and silky red Bordeaux. The latest line of the story was written in 2006 by Dominique Lauret-Mestreguilhem, with the purchase of Château Pindefleurs, Saint Emilion Grand Cru. Read less
