Chateau Pichon Longueville les Tourelle 2000

Winemaker's Notes:

A very successful effort for this vintage in the Medoc, this deep ruby/purple-colored Pauillac exhibits class/nobility/breed along with black currant liqueur, licorice, and incense notes. Sweet, expansive, fleshy, and medium to full-bodied, with good structure, ripe tannin, and a long, 30-35 second finish, it can be drunk now, but will be even better in 2-3 years; it will last for 12-15 years

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron:
Chateau Pichon-Longueville is made from vines mainly situated on the historical terroir of the property. The wines produced are powerful, rich in tannins, and characterised for being both elegant and muscular. They have an exceptional length in the mouth, and possess a remarkable ageing potential.

This Bordeaux was blended form the village of Pauillac. The Les Tourelles is a Merlot based blend with cabernet sauvignon and cab franc. On the nose you get leather and subtle notes of sawdust mixed with dark fruit. The palate is soft and deep with a calm power to it, which is apparent on the finish with the gripping tannins. The finish stays with you for some time but falls away gracefully. Highly recommended with fish meals and fruit. Cheers!
