Château Pichon-Longueville Lalande Pauillac 2018

External Review:

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot the Duhart Milon was picked from 1 October until 14 October. It has a typical Duhart with that Havana cigar wafting from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with strict and linear tannins matched by well-judged acidity. This is a straight down the line classic less demonstrative Duhart with a lovely tobacco infused finish. Drink over the next 15 years. Tasted April 2014. Neal Martins Wine Journal.

Excellent, first of 6 bottles bought en-primeur for £15 from chateauonline, thought it may be a little early to open, but it was already drinking well, big dark berry flavours with enough tannin to expect it to improve for several years. Decanter magazine said in June 2003 "4* Highly recommended. Fine, firm dense colour, tight yet very good fruit on the palate, firm long fruit and finely grained tannins, excellent future 2008-20"

A beautiful wine with plum berry and Spanish cedar. Some chocolate too. Medium to full body fine tannins and a fresh finish. Fine tannin texture. James Suckling.

Rich, spicy and dense, this wine shows a serious side. It has power and concentration, and the wood offers dryness as well as spice. Its fruit seems to be a separate layer at this stage. Wine Enthusiast. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild 1500ml

Shows high-toned cherry, tobacco leaf, grilled herb and lightly mulled spice notes. Very formed already, with a lingering dusty finish as the herb note peeks out more and more with air. Tasted non-blind.-J.M. Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild 3000ml

This shows lots of sweet tobacco and blueberry character. Full and silky with fine tannins. Keeps fresh. Long. Well done. James Suckling. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild 1500ml

The savory tobacco and cassis notes race along with a charcoal frame. A backdrop of kirsch fill this out displaying a peppery hint on the lightly dusty finish. Tasted non-blind. J.M. Wine Spectator.

Consumers should take note as this estate is clearly benefiting from increased attention from the Rothschilds. The 2003 may be the finest Duhart-Milon made ... ever! A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon
