99's weren't stellar in Bordeaux, but, Pichon Baron is always a very good wine. These are drinking well, but lack concentration that you will find in the 2000's/2003's and 2005's. It's always a fairly priced wine that is a sure winner regardless of vintage.

...Evolving aromas of currant, tobacco, cigar box, mocha and earth. Sweet, lush and rich; in a distinctly easygoing style, thanks to the very ripe merlot, which comprises 37% of the blend. The dark ruby/purple-colored Pichon Longueville Baron reveals aromas of charcoal, black currants, and sweet toasty oak. This low acid, medium-bodied, charming, lush 1999 possesses good stuffing, ripe tannin, and a moderately long finish. Enjoy it now as well as over the next 10-12 years.

"Healthy crimson. Solid, earthbound twin of the soaringPichon-Longueville-Comtesse-de-Lalande. Round and easy and just a littlelacking tension. Perfectly sound drink, just not exceptional. Stolid."<br/>(Jancis Robinson - jancisrobinson.com - 01-01-2004)<br/>
