Château Phélan Ségur Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe Rosé 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Black cherry liqueur chocolate aromas rise from the 2009 Ch. Phelan Segur. The
fruit is certainly ripe but a fresh minerality provides good balance and stops
the wine from feeling over-sweet. This is a rich, flamboyant, well-made wine.

At that time, the city was a major trading centre with the British Isles. The families that did business together, buying and selling the wines produced in the region, formed close tics. Medium bright red-ruby. Wild musky aromas of black raspberry smoky oak and crushed rock. Broad silky dry and laid-back with a subtle sweetness to its complex flavors of dark berries licorice herbs and black olive. Finishes ripe and smooth with big fine-grained tannins and excellent breadth and length. An excellent vintage for this chateau. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

Composed of 58% cabernet sauvignon 40% merlot and 2% cabernet franc with 50% aged in new oak. Dark purple in color with slight garnet hues the aromas are rich of boysenberry raspberry and spice with candied fruit and jammy notes following. The wine is medium to full bodied with abundant tannins and has a clean mouth feel. This is a tremendous value worth purchasing. Give it another 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 15+ years. Jeff Loo.
