Château Phélan Ségur Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe Rosé 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

At that time, the city was a major trading centre with the British Isles. The families that did business together, buying and selling the wines produced in the region, formed close tics. These relationships sometimes led to marriages, and notably that of Bernard Phelan to one of the daughters of Daniel Guestier, a well-known merchant in the market. With the benefit of his father-inlaw's experience, he was able to sum thinking about making his own wines, in order to do this, he acquired Ie Clos dc Caramey. located in Saint-Esiephe, in 1805. followed in 1810 by the Segur de Cabanac estate to complement his first acquisition. He thus created a magnificent wine-producing domain that remains practically unchanged today. When he died in 1841. Vanilla/oak on the nose. Red berries, pepper, and tobacco in the mouth.

This one's got some sweet and resinous notes on the nose. Deep oak and ample structure give this a smoky quality that isn't too invasive with its tannins.

Notes of black cherry and burned wood. A bit grassy, woodsy and farmy. Not a favorite of mine, but very interesting to try.

Shows black licorice and tar character, with fruit. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a medium finish. A very extracted style for this wine, but I like it. Best after 2011. 23,000 cases made. –JS Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2004 Phelan-Segur 750ml
