Château Pezat Bordeaux Supérieur Vin Rouge Vin Tranquille France Bordeaux A.o.c. Scea Tessier&fils 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Cave de Turckheim is situated in the pretty village of Turckheim, just slightly north west of Colmar. Firmly established as one of the best co-operatives in the world Cave de Turckheim always pays the utmost respect for the wine, combining rigour, know-how and patience with the latest technology and a steady stream of investment. Michel Lihrmann has been their senior winemaker for over 25 years and strongly believes that varietals in Alsace should express their delicate characteristics and favours the dryer style of Alsace wines. Cave de Turckheim produce an extensive range of wines, from their value-for-money Cave Tradition varietal range to the wines from 3 different Grand Crus. Central to Cave de Turckheim’s success is their willingness to innovate; two years ago they launched the Réserve range to great acclaim, and 2006 sees the launch of the Terroir D’Alsace range (formerly Lieux-Dit), a label change for their signature Grand Cru range and the launch of the Turckheim Pinot Grigio - a dry style Pinot Gris.Grapes are selected from vineyards with diverse soils - limestone, granite, gravel, marl and sandstone - which impart different characters and styles to the overall blend, and harvested by hand and machine, depending on site. Matured in wood it has red fruits aromas, and a harmonious palate, combined with pleasant tannins.Ideal with charcuterie.

A bit of botrytis adds richness and complexity without diminishing the clarity, nor covering the minerality in the least. The mineral seems to carry the fruit.

Jean-Claude Thevenet, one of the finest producers in the Mƒconnais, delivers a very crisp, clean-style wine. Lots of ripe apple-pear character in an elegant Chardonnay that calls for shellfish, light chicken or meat dishes.

Racy with a distinct green apple note alongside white peach aromas. Most notable on this Riesling is the mineral backbone that comes from the slatey soils of the Saar region of Germany. This wine will keep for many years to come.
