- The Petit Village rests near Vieux Chateau Certan in Pomerol. As VCC, it carries some cabernet sauvignon that gives it a more left bank character. This one showed an intense nose of ripe fruit, black cherries, plums, dark chocolate and some tar. Velvety tannins, a good body, great balance. Very nice and long finish. [90]

- Even within the highly approachable Pomerol category, the excellent Chateau Petit-Village, with its very high percentage of Merlot, is one of the easiest to enjoy in its youth. Fastidious winemaking emphasizes fat, round black currant and cherry flavors seasoned with the toasted character of new oak. The wine has the Merlot juiciness, medium acidity and smooth, opulent texture that make it ultimately (and almost immediately) drinkable. A voluptuous, approachable wine, Chateau Petit-Village is not always long-lived but makes an extremely pleasurable and suitable dinner companion. read more...
