Château Petit Bocq Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe 2000

Member Review by Nicki:

Tasted April 2008: Deep, unfiltered colour, still with a violet hue (typical of ripe Merlot). An exuberant but stylish bouquet, Merlot-dominated (milk chocolate and clove). In the mouth very tasty, silky-textured, polished and almost creamy. Long, intense aftertaste with soft oak and spiceness. An easy wine with considerable charm, technically outstanding, but lacking fruit and depth. Rather unusual for a Saint-Estèphe, this is not a long-haul wine; drink now through 2012. Excellent value.

There was nothing to suggest either that our family, who were originally from Belgium, would one day become gentlemen farmers or that I myself would one day give up my microscope (I was a specialist doctor) and allow myself to fall in love with winegrowing. As you come to the end of the “Chemin de Bocq”, a path running through the hamlet of Marbuzet, you get a first glimpse of the vines. There are barely twelve thousand feet, almost exclusively “Merlot Noir” with the roots thriving on the clayey land whilst the leaves are lulled by a gentle breeze cooled by the nearby river. Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
