Raspberry and cherry, mostly. Nice, not very complex, but I think a good value at under $12. Should be even better with a little more time. Read more

It's fine, but it came in second to a Ventana Rhone knockoff in blind tasting. I liked it better at first, but it's a little less layered than the Ventana, and not a long finish. It didn't open up a lot after decanting and sitting, either, which is why the Ventana beat it out in the end. There's a lot of good stuff in the price range ($12) so I probably won't go out of my way if this is what it's like in supposedly the best year ever for the Rhone.

Not a bad buy at 12 clams, but pretty simple in flavor profile. Nice to see some acid in this ripe year, but the body of this wine seems a bit thin to hold it.
Simple, but friendly - expect to meet all the berry basics of a nice Rhône. Great for drinking without food.
Very nice - smooth, fruit forward, just plain agreeable! Great value for $12.
Very approachable wine. With fruit upfront and earth at the back end, this wine is suitable for drinking alone or with food.

The late-released 2007 Quintessence (Pesquie's top cuvee) is a blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache aged 12 months in oak (40% new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Opaque at the core with a brilliant ruby rim. Aromas of freshly picked cherry, black raspberry, boysenberry jam and violet fill the nose. Silky texture on the palate, pepper and spice complement the array of black fruit flavors nicely. Ripe, but with... Alex Lallos. Wine Advocate Review Rated 91 The 2007 Terrasses Rouge is a custom cuvee put together for importer Eric Solomon. Made from 60-year-old Grenache and 30-year-old Syrah, one-third is aged in small barrels and the rest in foudre and tank. I'm sure discounters will offer this cuvee for around $12 a bottle, which makes it a remarkable bargain. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of cassis, kirsch, lavender, pepper, and spice. The sweetness of the tannins, abundant glycerin, razor sharp focus, and wonderful depth make for a wine that transcends its humble price and bucolic appellation. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. Wine Tasting Notes Dark red color, with a nose blossoming into jammy berry aromas set off by a touch of spice. The well-structured, powerful mouthfeel with elegant tannins is enhanced by slightly woody licorice notes. Long finish.
