This wine showed rich red fruits, yeasty baking bread and pepper on the nose. Juicy raspberry but not much else on the palate and a little dry on the finish. In comparison to the previous vintage, this wine falls short on both body and depth. Very drinkable and good for the price but not a repeat purchase for me.

It's fine, but it came in second to a Ventana Rhone knockoff in blind tasting. I liked it better at first, but it's a little less layered than the Ventana, and not a long finish. It didn't open up a lot after decanting and sitting, either, which is why the Ventana beat it out in the end. There's a lot of good stuff in the price range ($12) so I probably won't go out of my way if this is what it's like in supposedly the best year ever for the Rhone.

Raspberry and cherry, mostly. Nice, not very complex, but I think a good value at under $12. Should be even better with a little more time.

Not a bad buy at 12 clams, but pretty simple in flavor profile. Nice to see some acid in this ripe year, but the body of this wine seems a bit thin to hold it.

Simple, but friendly - expect to meet all the berry basics of a nice Rhône. Great for drinking without food.

Color: dark red color. Nose: intense nose with notes of black berries and spicy aromas like pepper. Mouth: This medium to full-bodied wine is still yet very fresh and elegant and allies unctuous tannins to flavors or red and black berries with a touchspice.

One of France's best values year after year. The 2011 offers up notes of blueberries, cherry liqueur, licorice and spices. This full-bodied red hits the palate with velvety texture and bold fruit. Vivid and pure!

There is evidence of vine cultivation at Ch teau Pesqui that dates to two thousand years ago. The recent discovery of a pottery workshop and wine pottery from the Roman era (30 BC) in the C tes du Ventoux Appellation confirms that the region is one of the oldest wine producing areas in France.

An amazing effort from one of Cotes de Ventoux's up-and-coming superstar producers, this non-oaked cuvee made from 60% Grenache (60-year-old vines) and 40% Syrah (40-year-old vines) boasts a dense ruby/purple color along with a fabulous nose of melted cassis intermixed with a touch of Provençal herbs and tomato skins. Also offering abundant glycerin, full body, and a pure, thick, juicy finish, this is an awesome wine for the price. Moreover, there are 7,000 cases available. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.

The unfined/unfiltered 2006 Les Terrasses Rouge, a custom cuvee made for American importer Eric Solomon, is a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. Its deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by a lovely bouquet of black currants, black cherries, licorice, smoke, roasted herbs, and melted licorice. Deep and full-bodied with velvety tannins, good acidity, and a long finish, this is a heck-of-a wine to drink over the next 4-5 years.

The Ventoux apellation is essentially a Côtes du Rhône sub-region. The wines, consistent with the southern Rhône style, are produced mainly from Grenache and Syrah. Château Pesquié is composed of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. Helped along by 14% alcohol, the Grenache shows a typically strong red raspberry liqueur element. But the blend also brings pepper spice, black fruits and a ripe plum flavor. Medium bodied, clear and bright, with a refreshing purity of fruit, this wine represents real authenticity of place and grape. A great dinner wine with food compatibility rating as one of its top assets. Good concentration and lingering flavors.

Winemaker's Notes:

Pesquie is the best estate in the Cotes-du-Ventoux, this wine is named for the latin term for terroir and is a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. There are aromas of jammy berry with a touch of spice, the palate is medium-bodied with power and lush tannins. The finish has cherry, black currnt notes with a little more spice.Robert Parker from Wine Advocate gave the 2010 Pesquié Terrasses *94 points* and called it: "One of my all-time favorite producers in France, is a phenomenal bargain. This wine is absolutely stunning, and the best one they have made to date, and is a brilliant showcase for what looks to be another great vintage in the southern Rhône. A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, with 65% aged in tank and the rest in old barrels and foudres, it is bottled unfined and unfilteret for the American market. Its stunning dense bluish/purple color offers up notes of sweet blueberries, black cherry liqueur, licorice, incense, and hint of hot rocks (almost gravelly, in the Bordeaux senses), but the wine hits the palate with amazing texture, succulence, fabulous fruit intensity, vivid purity and a vigorous, long, fresh finish that goes on past 30 seconds."Waiting for the 2011 ratings
