The 2009 Quintessence is a fine wine with balanced, structured flavors of sage, eucalyptus and cherry and notes of smoke and spice on the nose. Elegant, smooth and still capable of a few more years in the bottle, this Ventoux is highly recommended - if you can find the vintage. Though somewhat different in style, better value than many Chateauneuf-du-Pape. 90 points.

Dense purple color with spices, eucalyptus, and leather on the nose. Soft and elegant notes of garrigue and eucalyptus on the palate with a long finish. Pairs well with stuffed poultry, wild boar stew, and soft cheeses.
