What to Expect
Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Brilliant Rudy Red. Nose of wild blueberry, smoked bacon, fall leaves and chalk dust. Flavors of Black cherry and anise on the initial attack that turns a little raisiny but with a soft texture that carries it well. Over time a hint of beet juice emerges from this intense fruity wine. A long finish that shows a bit of bitter coffee.

WA 93pts. - According to the Wine Advocate: Pesquie s top cuvee, the 2005 Quintessence, comes from 80% old vine Syrah and 20% Grenache aged in new French oak for 12 months before being bottled with no fining or filtration. This is an opaque purple-hued, classic, cool climate Syrah from southern France. The higher elevation gives the wine great acidity as well as an extraordinary bouquet of acacia flowers, creme de cassis, blackberries, tar, licorice, and spice. Deep, full-bodied, and layered, this gorgeous offering should drink beautifully for 5-7 years. This is the benchmark estate for fabulous read more...
