Food Pairings for Chateau Palmer Margaux Third Growth
Tasted at the winery in June 2007. Good dark fruit aromas and flavors with some oak, but a bit disappointing on body, and finish. It's a good example of Bordeaux and I am a fan of the 2004 Margaux so I thought about 4 starts. However, this wine is pricy for what it is.
I am a rank amateur, I assure you. Nonetheless, of all the reasonably priced Bordeaux I have drank in the past few years, this is the very best I have imbibed. I do not have the oenological language to tell you why, but if I were to order a final glass of wine before my demise, it would surely be 2004 Alter Ego.
good food wine. would guess a cheap bordeaux in a blind tasting.
Wonderfully rich, opulent red and black fruit. Delicious, layered and terrific structure. - WS Grand Tour 2011

Aromas of licorice, tar and mineral follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a medium finish. A very pretty wine already. Falls a little short, but still outstanding. Best after 2009. 6,000 cases made. -JS Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2004 Chateau Palmer 1500ml
Deep red. Rich aromas of plum, redcurrant, chocolate and smoke. Sweet, lush and smooth, with a wonderfully fine-grained texture for the year. Highly expressive flavors of currant, cedar, chocolate and tobacco. The wine's subtle sweetness, suave tanni... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2004 Chateau Palmer 3000ml
Celebrating its 22nd year in 2008, Palmer Vineyards on the North Fork of New York’s Long island has been called "Long Island's most important winery." The climate and sandy soils are reminiscent of those on Bordeaux left bank where Merlot reins supreme. Palmer’s Merlot shows soft tannins, herbal and berry flavors and a hint of smoky oak from 14 months of barrel age. It’s a fruity but elegant wine that has delighted New Yorkers for 20 years.
