- Full bodied, deep purple towards garnet wine has tempting black cherry, cassis and wild berry flavors and aromas, all with generous hints of spicy eucalyptus and a long finish. Elegant and tempting now but the wine will be at its best only from about 2005 - 2020. Score 93.

- A hard call, but probably our favorite of the tasting. Full-bodied red berry and cherry fruit, layered with smoky earth, mineral, and sweet herbal notes. Lush, lingering finish. Fabulous wine. Very good now and over the next seven or eight years.

- The 1999 is a classic Ch. Palmer, dark purple in the glass, with notes of smoke and licorice. This Margaux is big with plenty of structure to last. 48%Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot make the blend.
