Chateau Musar is one of my favorite wines in the world. I have had the opportunity to try many vintages, dating back more than 5 decades with Serge Hochar, the wine maker.
This wine is a blend of three grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan. All grapes come from the Beekah Vally in Lebanon, not far from where the Romans built the Temple of Baachus.
Every vintage of Musar is so similar to the next, but each has it's own individual personality. The 1994 is like a misunderstood guy. He comes off strong at first, but given time, continues to unfold infront of you to reveal a remarkable read more...person.
Aged in concrete for one year, oak the following and then back into concrete before it is bottled, the wine isn't even released until it has bottle aged for atleast 6-7 years.
I love this wine with roasted game, turkey, lamb or grilled salmon. It has enough acid to stand up to most foods, so experiment a little...
If you can't find this vintage, you can always request it as a special order from any wine shop. The current vintage of this wine is 1999, and it is easier to find. (hide)
