Château Mouton Rothschild Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: Tasting at Mouton is an entertaining affair, with top-of-the-range golf buggies
driven by chic ladies clad all in black brought in to ferry the trade from
Check In to the hallowed halls of the Departure Lounge. The château seems
to feel the need to impress but there really is no need - the wine does
this all on its own in 2008.

Château Mouton-rothschild:
Since 1933, Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, located at Pauillac in the Médoc, has been motivated by a constant ambition: to make the world's finest wines, each in its own category, whether the châteaux wines for which it is responsible – the renowned Château Mouton Rothschild, a First Growth, and its distinguished lieutenants, Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac – or branded wines, like the famous Mouton Cadet.

Not much aroma than expected, but good balanced and taste and tannin goes on...

Initially, the wine seems austere, very mineral. It opens slowly, showing fruit that is definitely rich, offering velvet tannins. But there is also an iron hand in that velvet glove, because the structure then comes bursting through. Wine Enthusiast. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2008 Mouton-Rothschild 3000ml

The final blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot exhibits tell-tale black currant liqueur, incense, charcoal and floral-like characteristics. The oak is pushed to the background, one of the major improvements director Philippe Dalhuin has made at this estate. Full-bodied, deep and impressively endowed, it is a deep, rich, less massive effort than either the 2010 or 2009. This gorgeous Mouton will be drinkable in 4-5 years and age effortlessly for three decades.

A fantastic and full nose of blackberry jam, mineral and floral notes. Full-bodied, with exceptional purity of flavors. Lush and juicy on the palate with plenty of dark fruit flavors and a touch of minerality and spice on the finish. The tannins are ... John Perry. Here comes the wine of the vintage Intense black color. Intense and very aromatic nose. This is the most aromatic of all first growths tasted during this future campaign. Upon swirling it appears pure and noble. From entry it provides strong pleasure. Developing dense very very fruity and with beautiful weaving. No doubt that this is the best weaving of Bordeaux this year. Very juicy and pure the wine evolves on fine tannins without granularity. Very beautiful aromas emerge on the finish. This is very good with great length. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com
